you think my world is flat, do I turn you on?"

Full Name: Rogue Gareth Arretez (Gare rhymes with dare).
Alias: the Rogue, King of Thieves.
Occupation: King of Thieves, Rogue extraordinaire.
Gender: Male.
Age: Twenty four years.
DELVE A LITTLE DEEPER

but you still only graze the outer skin.
Skin Tone: Caucasian, though lightly tanned.
Eyes: Blue-green.
Hair: Dirty blond.
Height: 6'1"
Build: Lithe and lean.
Style: Gareth keeps his wardrobe simple- being the King of Thieves doesn't make him the richest person ever, though he does receive a good amount of gold from nobles in exchange for protecting their valuables, and a regular tithe from the city itself. He simply wears whatever is practical for the situation- if he needs to move quietly, he wears more tight-fitting clothing, if he has to stay warm, he wears a thick overcoat. His hair is another matter altogether- it's near impossible to tame, so he normally just leaves it the way it is, with the occasional brushing down a stray strand.

Father: Unknown.
Mother: Sulfira, deceased.
Other: No one.
Origin: He's lived in Dænr his whole life.
History: Gareth never knew who his father was; his mother refused to talk about him, and he had left before Gareth's birth. Gareth was raised solely by his mother, Sulfira. She was a commoner, with no job and only a small cottage on the edge of Dænr to her name. Gareth learned the art of staying alive at a young age- he often had to find underhanded ways to get food to feed him and his mother, or else face starvation.
When Gareth was ten, his mother fell ill and died soon afterwards. The house they occupied was ceased by the court- Sulfira had been in a lot of debt- and Gareth was forced to wander the streets as a City Rat. He stole food and money whenever he had the chance, and merchants were careful to keep an eye on him whenever he was in the vicinity. Surviving many harsh winters and many close calls with starvation and being arrested, he reached the age of twenty one.
It was then that he became more aware of the Rogue, the King of Thieves as he was called. While many had challenged this King of Thieves to no avail, Gareth became obsessive as he studied the personality, the weaknesses, and the strengths of the Rogue. Eventually, in his twenty second year, Gareth attacked and killed the King of Thieves and took the position for his own. He was criticized for his youth, but in truth, it was his experience that had gained him victory- he had spent over a decade living on the streets and knew the ways of a rogue better than anyone. It was in this way that he became the Rogue of Dænr, and still holds this title now.
STILL DO NOT JUDGE
for you will never walk their shoes.
for you will never walk their shoes.
Fears: Being overthrown, meeting his father.
Mental Stability: Sane.
Strength: Light on his feet, intelligent.
Weakness: Selfish, ignorant.
General Persona: Gareth has never been a particularly friendly person- his history assured that quite well. He was constantly fighting for survival, and for a portion of his life, his mother's as well. He doesn't abide by the rules of whether something is ethical or not. He works by simple logic- if he sees something or someone as a threat, that threat must be dealt with, whether it's a meat-starved wolf or a spying child.
Gareth isn't one to play nice. He's not afraid to get in a fight, even if it means certain injury or even death for the other participant. In some ways, however, Gareth is a coward. He doesn't want himself to get injured, and his cutthroats must be all the more trustworthy because of it. Of course, there will be a day when he's overthrown, but he doesn't like to think about that. When he becomes incompetent to continue as the King of Thieves, he'll most likely slink away into the darkness before a challenge against him can be issued.
Of course, he isn't completely dimwitted. In fact, Gareth is too intelligent for his own good. He works mostly in his mind- planning, studying, and forming strategies in his every day life. He is a sane person, but not the most stable. In his opinion, his mind is the only true thing he has left in the world.

Sample: Garrett checked his watch for the millionth time that day. Well, maybe not the millionth, but he had checked it far too often in the past hour to be considered normal. The school day had ended and he had managed to keep himself detention free for once, though his happiness had been short lived. Of course, he was behind on an English project, and English class required reading. Hence, he found himself sitting at one of the many tables in the library.
Time seemed to be progressing at half its usual speed. Garrett rocked back in his chair, tilting it so only two of its legs were on the ground. He knew the librarian would skin him alive if she saw- he had gotten in enough trouble for 'chair abuse' over the years already- but he was bored, and frankly, didn't care whether or not he was causing the chair some kind of harm. He had been there for just over an hour and located the book for his English assignment, yet he hadn't managed to make it past the fifth page. It was just so boring.
The fact that he couldn't see out of his left eye may have helped contribute to the unsuccessful attempt at reading. He had to tilt his head slightly so he could see the pages properly, and was conscious that he must look awfully silly, sitting there moving his head around in an attempt to read a fifty year old book that no one cared about. In all honesty, Garrett no longer even remembered the name of the cursed novel!
Finally giving up on any semblance of reading, he dropped the book carelessly onto the table, earning a dirty look from another twelfth grader sitting nearby. He returned the glare and ran a hand through his hair, exhaling dramatically. He just didn't have the patience for this. The English assignment would have to wait for another time.
Pushing the assigned reading aside, Garrett scanned the library for any sign of someone or something to keep him busy. He was reluctant to return home so early- he and Ayden had had an argument not that long ago, and he was loathe to return home to his irritating older brother. Speaking of irritating, a thought crossed Garrett's mind. I wonder where Kayley's off to. She may be annoying, but she was still one of the best friends he had, and he wouldn't change a thing about her.
Garrett quickly moved to stand, forgetting about his tilted chair and tripping backwards over it. He landed hard on his backside and cursed loudly, again on the receiving end of some glares. He had a reputation around the school as a troublemaker, and interrupting students while they worked on oh-so-important projects was apparently frowned upon. He quickly righted the chair and stepped away from it, making sure to keep the offending object in his narrow line of sight.
He slipped his hands into his jean pockets, scanning the library once more and contemplating his next move.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/size]
